LIA Antique Brass is a ceramic wall hanging composed of five organic stoneware medallions, connected by elegant gold-tone metal rings.

This version explores a deep and sophisticated palette inspired by antique brass, patinated copper, polished woods, black lacquer, garnet and precious surfaces transformed by time.

Each medallion reveals its own colour, texture and personality:

• a warm, luminous cream reminiscent of aged ivory;

• a metallic rosy brown with copper and bronze reflections;

• a deep, glossy black, intense and almost mirror-like;

• a chocolate brown scattered with speckles and mineral effects;

• a rich garnet red shifting between burgundy, deep wine and black cherry.

The medallions are made from Toffee stoneware, a naturally taupe clay whose warm tone adds even greater depth to the glazes and may remain subtly visible along the edges.

Depending on the angle, the light and the time of day, the composition may appear darker, warmer, more metallic or more precious. Some surfaces reveal subtle pearlescent movement, while others develop lacquered depth, dark reflections or delicate mineral variations created naturally during firing.

Together, the five medallions form a bold, balanced and elegant vertical composition.

THE HANDMADE CHARACTER

Each LIA wall hanging is individually shaped, glazed and assembled by hand.

The medallions are never mechanically reproduced. Their contours, thickness, movement and surface may therefore vary slightly from one piece to another.

The glazes used for Antique Brass are reactive and develop their own individual character during firing.

Depending on the position of the medallions inside the kiln, each piece may reveal more pronounced metallic reflections, deeper black or burgundy areas, stronger speckling, softer cream tones or variations reminiscent of aged metal and polished stone.

These variations are not imperfections. They are an integral part of the handmade process and make every LIA wall hanging unique.

The photographs show the composition, palette and overall atmosphere of the Antique Brass design. A made-to-order version will remain true to this rich and dramatic character while having its own individual details.

INSTALLATION

LIA comes with a round gold-tone metal wall fitting.

It is important to use appropriate wall hardware for the weight of the sculpture and the type of wall on which it will be displayed.

Its long, slender proportions work particularly beautifully:

• in an entryway;

• on a narrow wall;

• beside a mirror;

• between two windows;

• in a bedroom;

• in a dining room;

• along a hallway;

• in a refined living room;

• in a hotel or boutique;

• in an Art Deco-inspired interior.

It can be displayed on its own as a sculptural focal point or combined with other wall pieces to create a larger, more dramatic composition.

LIA Antique Brass pairs particularly beautifully with:

• warm white, beige or limewashed walls;

• dark woods and walnut;

• black accents;

• burgundy, aubergine and deep red tones;

• natural linen and velvet;

• travertine and dark stone;

• brushed brass and antique gold;

• cream, taupe and chocolate interiors;

• warm, indirect lighting.

Natural daylight, directional lighting or a wall sconce will particularly enhance the metallic reflections, glossy surfaces and depth of the darker glazes.

Handle each medallion with care during installation.

MADE TO ORDER

When the piece is not currently available in stock, LIA Antique Brass is made especially for you.

The process includes shaping each medallion by hand, allowing the clay to dry completely, an initial firing, glazing, a second high-temperature firing, and finally assembling the piece with its gold-tone rings.

This process gives the clay and glazes the time they need to develop their full strength, depth and individual character.
