Starlight Draped Sculpture

A draped ceramic wall sculpture with luminous yellow, gold, white and crystalline reflections, designed as a jewel of light for the wall.

The Starlight Draped Sculpture is a handcrafted ceramic wall piece shaped like a fragment of suspended fabric, frozen in a soft, sculptural movement.

Its folds evoke classical drapery, precious textiles, sunlight and mineral surfaces scattered with glimmers of light. Here, clay almost seems to become fabric: it dresses the wall, catches the light, creates shadows and reveals the full depth of the glaze.

Starlight is one of the most precious glazes in the collection. Its surface reveals a luminous blend of golden yellow, creamy white and champagne tones, with pearlescent reflections and delicate crystalline and iridescent effects.

Depending on the light and the angle from which it is viewed, the sculpture transforms: sometimes warm and sunlit, sometimes pearlescent and almost reflective. Subtle flashes of colour may appear across the surface of the glaze, only to disappear again moments later.

It is a piece that changes throughout the day.

Each fold becomes a small landscape of light. Some areas glow softly, while others reveal golden highlights, milky reflections or delicate crystallisations.

Starlight was imagined as a jewel for the wall: a luminous, sculptural and singular work of art that brings volume, movement and a sense of presence to a space that cannot be found in a traditional framed artwork.

It was entirely shaped by hand in my studio and is a one-of-a-kind piece.

Once this particular Starlight has found its home, it will therefore no longer be available.

DISPLAY SUGGESTIONS

Starlight can be displayed on its own, allowing the wall to breathe around it like a small sculptural artwork, or paired with other Draped Sculptures to create a larger installation.

Its warm tones pair particularly beautifully with natural linen, wood, travertine, stone, limewashed walls, neutral shades, brushed brass and warm lighting.

Light truly becomes part of the artwork: changing natural daylight, directional lighting or a wall sconce will gradually reveal the depth of its folds, golden highlights and crystalline details.

THE HANDMADE PROCESS

Each Clay’Milie Draped Sculpture begins with a slab of clay that I shape entirely by hand, without moulds or mechanical reproduction.

The folds are formed one by one, giving the ceramic the illusion of a soft, almost textile-like material.

The particularly reactive Starlight glaze then reveals its character during firing. Its nuances, crystallisations and reflections are the result of this meeting between hand, material and fire.

No two Draped Sculptures can ever be reproduced exactly alike.
